Privacy Policy

Teledoc is committed to protecting your health data and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard information in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023, the IT Act 2000 and its amendments, the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and applicable regulations of the CDSCO. By accessing www.teledoc.world or enrolling in any Teledoc programme, you agree to the practices described herein.

1. About Teledoc & Scope of This Policy

Teledoc (“we, ” “us,” “our) is an Indian telehealth platform operating the Teledoc Metabolic Weight Loss Program (TMWLP) – a doctor-supervised programme combining metabolonomic phenotyping, lifestyle modification, nutrition guidance, and, where clinically indicated, GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy. Teleodc Service are delivered exclusively via its website (www.teledoc.world) and WhatsApp-based support channels.

This policy applies to all individuals who: visit www.teledoc.world ; complete enquiry or enrolment forms; receive consultations, prescriptions dietary plans, or monitoring support; or interact with Teledoc via WhatsApp, email, or any digital channel.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information You Provide
  • Identity data: Full Full name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and government-issued ID (Aadhaar number or equivalent) where required for ABHA-linked records.
  • Contact data: Mobile number, email address, residential address (city/PIN code level).
  • Medical history: Weight, height, BMI, co-morbidities, medications, prior medical and surgical history, family history, and lifestyle information collected during onboarding and follow-up consultations.
  • Lab & Diagnostic: Results of investigations ordered or uploaded by you, including fasting glucose, HbA1c, lipid panel, thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4), cortisol, HOMA-IR, LFTs, and other metabolic markers.
  • Dietary & activity data: Food logs, meal photographs, step counts, exercise records, and sleep data shared through the programme.
  • Payment Data: Transaction references, UPI IDs, and bank details processed via our payment gateway. Full card/account numbers are never stored on Teledoc systems.
2b. Information Collected Automatically
  • Device type, IP address, browser type, and operating system.
  • Pages visited, time on site, referral URL, and click-stream data via cookies and analytics tools.

3. Sensitive Personal & Health Data

In the context of a metabolic weight loss programme, virtually all health information you share constitutes Sensitive Personal Data or Information (SPDI) under Indian law. This includes, without limitation:

  • Physical and mental health condition, disease history, and diagnosis data.
  • Biometric data where collected (weight, body composition, waist measurements).
  • Prescription and medication data, including GLP-1 receptor agonist prescriptions.
  • Hormonal, reproductive, and endocrine investigation results (PCOS, thyroid, cortisol).
  • Metabolonomic phenotype classification assigned as part of TMWLP.

Consent Requirement

We collect, process, and store Sensitive Personal Data only with your explicit, informed, and freely given consent as required under the DPDP Act 2023. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Clause 8), subject to our retention obligations under Telemedicine Practice Guidelines and medical record law.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal and health data for the following purposes:

  • Metabolonomic assessment & phenotyping: Classifying your metabolic subtype (insulin resistance, cortisol excess, thyroid dysfunction, gonadal dysregulation, neurogenic appetite dysregulation, or gut/microbiome imbalance) to personalise your treatment plan.
  • Clinical consultation & prescribing: Enabling registered medical practitioners on the Teledoc panel to provide teleconsultations, issue prescriptions, and monitor your progress in compliance with Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020.
  • Programme delivery: Generating personalised diet plans, nutraceutical recommendations, resistance training guidance, and follow-up schedules.
  • Communication: Sending programme updates, appointment reminders, investigation reminders, prescription renewals, and support messages via WhatsApp and email.
  • Safety monitoring: Tracking side effects, adverse reactions, and contraindications, particularly in relation to GLP-1 therapy, and facilitating escalation to in-person care where necessary.
  • Regulatory compliance: Maintaining medical records as required under applicable law and MoHFW guidelines.
  • Quality improvement: De-identified, aggregated analysis of programme outcomes to improve clinical protocols. Individual patient data is never used for this purpose without separate consent.
  • Legal & administrative purposes: Responding to court orders, regulatory inquiries, or statutory obligations.

5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only in the following circumstances and only to the extent necessary:

Healthcare Providers

Teledoc-panel doctors and clinical support staff accessing your records to provide or review care. All personnel are bound by medical confidentiality obligations.

Lab Partners

Dr Lal PathLabs, SRL Diagnostics, Metropolis, and Thyrocare — solely for processing investigation orders and returning results. Your data is shared under data processing agreements.

Pharmacy Partners

PharmEasy, 1mg, and Netmeds — solely for fulfilling valid prescriptions issued by Teledoc-registered practitioners. Only the prescription and delivery address are transmitted.

Technology Providers

Cloud hosting, payment gateway, and communications platform providers operating under contractual data processing obligations and applicable Indian data law.

We may also disclose your information:
(a) if required by a court order, law, or competent regulatory authority;
(b) to protect the safety of any person, including yourself;
(c) in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, with prior notice to you.

6. GLP-1 Pharmacy & Lab Partner Data Flows

Given the specialised nature of TMWLP, the following specific data flows apply to programme participants:

  • When a Teledoc doctor issues a prescription for semaglutide, tirzepatide, or any other GLP-1 receptor agonist, your name, age, prescription details, and delivery address will be transmitted to your chosen pharmacy partner to fulfil the order. Teledoc does not store your full prescription on its servers beyond the retention
    period mandated by law.
  • When Teledoc orders investigations on your behalf, your name, age, date of birth, and relevant clinical notes will be shared with the designated laboratory. Results are returned directly to Teledoc and made available to your treating physician
  • Your ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID, if provided, may be used to link health records under the ABDM framework with your explicit consent.

7. Data Retention

Medical records (consultation notes, prescriptions, investigation results, treatment plans) are retained for a minimum period of seven (7) years from the date of last consultation, as recommended under Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 and the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations 2002. For minors, records are retained until the patient reaches 25 years of age or for seven years from last contact, whichever is longer.

Non-clinical personal data (contact information, payment records) is
retained for three (3) years after programme termination or account closure, unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Your Rights Under the DPDP Act 2023

As a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Obtain a summary of personal data held about you and information on how it has been processed.
  • Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of personal data that is no
    longer necessary for the purpose it was collected, subject to retention obligations.
  • Right to Grievance Redressal: Have your complaints addressed within the timelines specified by the Act.
  • Right to Nominate: Nominate an individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal; however, it may limit our ability to continue providing services.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer (Clause 12). We will respond within 30 days of receipt of a valid request.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, role-based permissions for clinical staff, and regular security assessments. However, no system can guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India in accordance with the DPDP Act 2023.

10. Cookies & Digital Tracking

Our website uses essential cookies for session management and analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics data is aggregated and de-identified. You may disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings; this will not affect your ability to use the website or receive services. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

11. Children’s Privacy

Teledoc services are intended for adults (18 years and above). We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If a parent or guardian enrols a minor in a Teledoc programme, the parent/guardian’s consent covers data collection for the minor and the parent/guardian assumes responsibility for programme compliance. Please contact us if you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor without
appropriate consent.
